Initial Study
The path along the metro-mover stations revealed exactly what happens, and what a user experiences as they try to visit all of Downtown's educational destination.
The prices or transportation, and the times of availability were also recorded.
Public Transportation Analysis
These diagrams show the public transportation routes that are available, and how they correlate with the educational path.
Also shown are the destinations. Each destination lettering is a call out that corresponds to an in-depth study of that area.
Project Description
This project sought to understand and discover the education experiences offered in Downtown Miami. It looked at the potential public transportation methods used by a student visiting all of Downtown Miami’s educational and artistic centers on a single day. The path starts in the Government Center Metro Rail Station, and takes advantage of Donwtown’s Metromover service. The study finds that the Metromover is Downtown’s biggest asset to the public, since its free, fast, and convenient. However, the diagrams also reveal many more problems left to be resolved in the Downtown area.
Final Conclusions
-
Homelessness spread throughout all areas visited
-
Lack of security and safety is a concern even in populated metromover stations.
-
Many dangerous crossing intersections separate parking lots from their destinations.

-Clearer and safer access to and from parking areas -The effect of impassable highway exits is mitigated by tunnels for cars and pedestrians. -Parking is largely unadvertised, and hidden amongst the buildings

-Services multiple important sites -Crossing is dangerous and confusing. -Many seemingly obvious cross walk opportunities aren’t available. -Impassible locations at bridge on-ramps. -viewing opportunities wasted on parking lots
